Brief Biography (English)

Prof George Ellis started in mathematical cosmology, and wrote The Large Scale Structure of Space-Time with Stephen Hawking. Then he initiated the Relativity and Cosmology Group at the University of Cape Town.  More recently he has been looking at the way the brain functions, and how biology emerges from physics: the key issue of reduction and emergence.
