Dr Edache Ernest Ekoja is an entomologist with research interest in Pest Management, Insect-Plant Interactions, Environmental Protection and Agronomy. He graduated with First Class Honours in Agronomy (Crop/ Soil) from the Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi, and proceeded to the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta where he earned a Master’s degree in Crop Protection and a PhD in Entomology. He is a lecturer with the Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi, where he is actively engaged in teaching, research, and extension.
He also holds a Diploma in Data Processing, proficient in the use of Microsoft Office tools such as Word, Access, Publisher, PowerPoint and Excel, as well as Project Planning, Cyber Security and Online Collaboration (https://profile.icdlafrica.org/1659f4ef-dbca-4568-b57a-276d97414948#gs.h6p1xn). Dr Ekoja is also proficient in biometrics and the use of statistical software such as Microsoft Excel, General Statistical Package (GENSTAT), SYSTAT, Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS), MINITAB, SigmaPlot, and the Statistical Analysis System (SAS). He is also experienced in designing screens for multimedia presentations, and in preparing documents for the worldwide web.
He is a member of some reputable academic societies - Entomological Society of Nigeria (ESN), Nigerian Society for Plant Protection (NSPP), Horticultural Society of Nigeria (HORTSON), Organic Agriculture Project in Tertiary Institutions in Nigeria (OAPTIN), Network for Biopesticide and Phytomedical Stakeholders (NEBIPS). He is currently the Secretary of the National Research Committee in National School of Public Policy (NSPP), the National Assistant Secretary of NEBIPS, and the Secretary of the Makurdi/ Lafia/ Yandev/ Branch of ESN.
Dr Ekoja won the Nigerian Federal Government scholarship award for academic excellence (Undergraduate). He was the best graduating student in the College of Agronomy Award (Undergraduate set), his research proposal earned him a role in a Research grant awarded by the Research and Development Centre of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (RG 215) during his Master’s degree, and he also earned TETFund Scholarship for his PhD research.
He has attended conferences and participated in relevant international workshops and high-impact training. Dr Ekoja has supervised students at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. He has also published widely in local and international journals. He is currently an assessor for a number of reputable journals (such as Taylor and Francis, Springer etc).
