Dr Golda Obiageri Ekenedo was born and raised in the South-Eastern part of Nigeria in the late sixties. Her early childhood, primary and secondary education took place in Onitsha, Anambra State and was concluded in 1983. She obtained an NCE (Nigeria Certificate in Education) in 1986 from the defunct Anambra State College of Education, Awka.
Dr Ekenedo obtained a BSc degree in Health and Physical Education in 1989, a Masters in Public Health Education in 1994, and a PhD in Public Health Education and Promotion in 2007, all from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. She was awarded the Best Graduating Student of the Class of '89, Department of Health & Physical Education, University of Nigeria.
Her work experience started with Compulsory National Youth Service as a Lecturer with the School of Health Technology, Aba, Abia State, 1990 -1991. She was a part-time Teacher with the University of Nigeria from 2004 - 2006. Dr Ekenedo has been a Lecturer and Researcher at the University of Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria from 2007 to date. She has also worked with UNICEF as a resource person in School Health Programmes.
Dr Ekenedo was the HoD, Department of Human Kinetics and Health Education, UNIPORT, 2018 -2020. She is also the Managing Editor, Trends in Educational Researches Journal (TRESJ), a publication of the Faculty of Education, UNIPORT, 2020 - forward. Dr Ekenedo was the Managing Editor for the Journal of Kinetics and Health Education Perspectives (JOKHEP), 2017.
She is Assistant National Secretary of the Health Promotion Research Association of Nigeria (HEPRAN); a Member of the Nigerian Association of Health Educators(NAHE); a Member of the Nigerian School Health Journal (NSHA) and a Chartered Member of the Institute of Safety Professionals in Nigeria (ISPON).
Dr Ekenedo's Research interest is in the areas of health needs assessment, and health education and promotion programme design. She has over 60 Publications in edited books and refereed journals (Local and International).
