Dr Dubihlela is a former banker-turned-academic, embedded banking industry expertise, research, community engagement, and data analytics. Worked in senior managerial roles for nearly 15 years. Growing researcher, confident with credible work ethics invaluable for a faculty that is still strengthening and growing a team of academics and researchers. An experienced research supervisor with a postgraduate student-focused approach to teaching and research, he espouses outcomes-based learning; a learner-centered, result-oriented approach based on the assumption that students are capable of realising their potential if guided to demonstrate skills and competencies. Research activity focused on risk, governance, small business finance, social entrepreneurship, and pro-bono consultancy work with various banks and local organisations. This creative engagement has helped unlock multiple positive outcomes; his students are keener enquirers, they work harder to solve practical problems. This is also evident in the postgraduate supervision activities that he is driving within the faculty.
In the short period from 2013, he has published more than 60 papers in reputable accredited journals and over 25 papers in conference proceedings, receiving 5 research awards. His experience and analytical skills have seen him facilitate various workshops and present papers at international conferences. Over the years, he has built very progressive collaborations internationally and locally, supervising postgraduate learners and reviewing for various reputable accredited journals. Prof Dubihlela has notable data analytical skills and people skills that have helped grow our team of young academics in the School of Accounting Sciences. He exudes good mentoring and coaching skills when he collaborates with junior academics and postgraduate students. He is pleasant and friendly and can always be trusted. He is currently leading a team of 19 academics. He has run various projects and published in various international journals, ideally suitable for a growing team of researchers who need collaborations and support to publish in quality journals. His scholarly work has been cited several times and shows steady activity according to Google Scholar
