Brief Biography (English)

Dr Simangele Dlamini holds a Bachelor of Arts degree, a Post Graduate Certificate in Education, an Honours Degree in Geography, and a Master of Science Degree in Environmental Sciences from the University of the Witwatersrand. He enrolled for a PhD in Geography at the University of Johannesburg in 2018 and completed his studies in 2020. Simangele sought to spatially characterise human-nature interactions through an assessment of environmental attitudes, perceptions, and place attachment in the Gauteng province, South Africa. Additionally, the study dissected those socio-demographic factors that affect these human-nature interaction dimensions. The study then went on to examine how these environmental sentiments changed over a period of time. Dr Dlamini is currently a Senior Research Specialist at the Human Sciences Research Council in the Developmental, Capable and Ethical State (DCES) Division. He previously worked at KPMG South Africa as an environmental consultant and has been a lecturer of Geography and Environmental Sciences at Vista University and the University of Johannesburg, South Africa.
