Dr. Roger Deane is an associate professor at the University of Pretoria. He completed his doctorate at the University of Oxford and returned to South Africa after being awarded Square Kilometre Array postdoctoral fellowships at the University of Cape Town and Rhodes University. He then moved to the University of Pretoria where he established the astronomy research group in 2018.
