Brief Biography (English)
Professor Bernard De Meyer is Professor of French Studies at the University of KwaZulu-Natal, Pietermaritzburg campus. Main focus of research is on postcolonial African literature in French. Special interest in the novel, and how each literary text relates to existing literature, whether African, European or Latin American, and to the world of publishing, and how these relationships manifest themselves in the literary text. This approach is placed in a decolonial context. Has published on many contemporary African writers, including Tierno Monénembo, Léonora Miano, Ananda Devi, and, more recently, Malagasy writers.
