Brief Biography (English)

Prof. Likius Shipwiisho Daniel has been a member of the Department of the Faculty of Science at the University of Namibia (UNAM) since 2014. He holds the ASSAf-TWAS-AAAS Regional Fellowship for Science Diplomacy programme and nominated for the Environmental Investment Fund (EIF) Research and Development Award 2017 in the category of Sustainable Development Awards. He is the University of Namibia's research and publication’s chairperson. Daniel completed his PhD at Kogakuin University, Tokyo, and his undergraduate studies at the University of Namibia. Daniel also holds postgraduate diploma in business administration and he is currently pursuing a higher diploma in higher education. His research interests lie in the area of materials for renewable energy, ranging from theory to design to implementation. He has collaborated actively with researchers in several other disciplines of chemistry, particularly inorganic chemistry and computational chemistry on problems of enhancing photo responsiveness of solar energy. He has managed to published 28 publications in peer-reviewed journals and attending more than 66 international conferences. Daniel has served on roughly seven conference and workshop program committees and is the local chair for ISAT-21. He has served on the Chemistry departmental curriculum development Committee, the Steering Committee for the UNAM Bursary award, and the UNAM Time table board. He currently serves at the national level as a contact person on nanotechnologies, advanced materials, and advanced manufacturing and processing. Daniel is the coordinator for a popular chemistry seminar at University on undergraduate topics in chemistry and renewable energy awareness. Daniel lives with his wife, a teacher, their daughter, born March 2006, and, because that clearly isn't enough chaos, a puppy born October 2016. Prior to becoming a proud and obsessed dad, Daniel enjoyed playing (poorly) and watching hockey, (road) bicycling, hiking, non-fiction, and enjoying good food, beer, and live theatre. Now he usually manages to read one book a month. Dr Daniel has never had a cavity.
