Dr Daniel Cunnama is the Science Engagement Astronomer at the South African Astronomical Observatory (SAAO). The South African Astronomical Observatory (SAAO) is the national centre for optical and infrared astronomy in South Africa. Its prime function is to conduct fundamental research in astronomy and astrophysics. Daniel received his PhD in Astrophysics from the University of the Western Cape in 2013. In his current role, Daniel is tasked with the promotion and communication of the world-class research happening at the South African Astronomical Observatory (SAAO) and other Astronomical Institutions in the country and has extensive experience in science engagement performing regular television and radio interviews as well as public talks at venues around the country.
