Brief Biography (English)

Ptofessor Ernst Conradie is Senior Professor in the Department of Religion and Theology at the University of the Western Cape. His research and writing is in the intersection between Christian ecotheology, systematic theology and ecumenical theology.

His recent monographs include The Earth in God's Economy (2015), Redeeming Sin? Social diagnostics amid Ecological Destruction (2017) and Secular Discourse on Sin in the Anthropocene: What's Wrong with the World? (2020). He is a co-editor (with Sigurd Bergmann, Celia Deane-Drummond and Denis Edwards) of Christian Faith and the Earth: Current Paths and Emerging Horizons in Ecotheology (2014) and (with Hilda Koster) of the T&T Clark Handbook of Christian Theology and Climate Change (2019).

His current project is a series of edited volumes entitled An Earthed Faith: Telling the Story amid the "Anthropocene", to be published jointly by Aosis and Wipf and Stock.

Prof Conradie is a co-editor of Scriptura: Journal of Biblical Theological and Contextual Hermeneutics and the current chairperson of the Theological Society of South Africa.
