Prof Malcolm Collins is currently the Head of the Department of Human Biology, Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Cape Town (UCT).

He is a Professor in the Division of Exercise Science and Sports Medicine (ESSM), Department of Human Biology, Faculty of Health Sciences at UCT.

Prof Collins' research interests are on Genetic basis and molecular mechanism of exercise- and occupational-associated musculoskeletal soft tissue (tendon, ligament and muscle) injuries, and Genetic elements that determine the endurance phenotype and the inter-individual physiological responses during participation in endurance events.
