Karen Jacqueline Cloete obtained her PhD at Stellenbosch University (SU). She is a Scientific Researcher whose work focuses on material chemical fingerprinting with ion beam and synchrotron radiation technologies as well as nanotechnology. She is currently a Researcher at the University of South Africa (Unisa). As a Visiting Scientist, she has visited international scientific institutes of standing. Cloete has been the recipient of various notable Scholarships, Grants, and Awards for her work that has also been highlighted in popular media and in international publications. She believes in the power of science to affect positive change. She is member of the Organization for Women in Science for the Developing World (OWSD).
