Mr Constant Chuma is a Lecturer and PhD candidate in the Department of Applied Physics at the National University of Science and Technology (NUST) in Zimbabwe. His PhD Research is focusing on the geophysical and hydrogeological characterisation of the crystalline basement aquifer in Bulawayo Metropolitan, Zimbabwe. Mr Chuma holds a BSc Honours Degree in Applied Physics, a Masters degree in Geophysics and a Postgraduate Diploma in Higher Education from NUST, Zimbabwe. He is one of the Zimbabwean Young Scientists who attended African Regional Centre for Space Science and Technology Education in English (ARCSSTE-E) in Nigeria under the United Nations, for his Postgraduate Diploma in Space Applications in 2012. Mr Chuma was the overall Best Student since the inception of the course in 2000. The programme is meant for capacity-building in developing countries in the application of space and technology. He is an active Member of the Zimbabwe Young Scientific Forum, a body formed by Zimbabwean academics, and intended to promote excellence and creativity in science. In his current Research work, he is highlighting the importance of space science and technology in the attainment of sustainable development in a country. His Research interests include groundwater, mineral exploration, hydrogeology, geotechnical surveys and environmental assessment. In 2013 Mr Chuma was awarded the Emerging Space Leaders Grant among other grants he received in 2014 and 2018. He has Published many articles and Presented many conferences and workshops. Mr Chuma has Produced more than 40 technical reports on consultancy projects in groundwater surveying, hydrology, and hydrogeology and geotechnical assessments. He has Supervised more than 12 undergraduate research projects and 5 postgraduate projects.
