Dr Uchechukwu Chukwudi is an African scientist in his early career who is dedicated to advancing solutions for the African continent and beyond. At the University of Nigeria's Department of Crop Science, he taught research designs and experiments to undergraduates and postgraduates. In addition to lecturing on agricultural statistics, he assists students and researchers with multivariate data analysis and interpretation using R programmes and other statistical tools.
Dr Chukwudi has a strong track record of publication in prestigious international peer-reviewed journals. He's been asked to review papers for both local and international journals, including Scientific Reports. He was a student leader and the Crop Science Society of Nigeria's first national assistant secretary. He is a member of the Nigerian Institute of Management, the International Society of Tropical Root Crops - Africa Branch, and the Horticultural Society of Nigeria. He had presented research papers at both national and international conferences.
His research interests include the effects of abiotic stressors on cereal grain quality, the conversion of agricultural wastes into farm input, and the conservation and use of African vegetables that have been neglected or underutilised. His research focuses on epigenetic inheritance in plants that are stressed. He is capable of interpreting and simulating large data sets.
Dr Chukwudi graduated from the Department of Crop Science, University of Nigeria with a B Agric in Crop Production (First Class Honours) and an MSc in Horticulture (Distinction). He completed his PhD in Agronomy at the Crop Science Department at North-West University South Africa.
