Dr Chiloane spent 10 years working within the fields of energy management, resource optimization, minerals processing, and climate change. She has previously worked on Measurement and Verification of various energy efficiency projects across South Africa. Her previous work experience includes University of Cape Town’s former Energy Research Center, the national Department of Environment, Forrest and Fisheries of National Government, Energy Centre at the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), and currently employed at Sasols Secunda operations as a Process Engineer. She holds a BSc, MSc and PhD in Chemical Engineering from the University of Cape Town. Her PhD research revisits some of her ground-breaking Masters level research on the possibility of co-locating solar energy generation with remote mine sites with my very impressive practical experience in industrial energy efficiency. She believes that South Africa’s minerals beneficiation industries must regain the global competitive advantage in a low-carbon world.
