Dr Annette Busula is a Medical Entomologist and has over 10 years experience in Malaria and Research. She also has very good experience in Teaching Biological and Agricultural Sciences at the Kaimosi Friends University College in Kenya. The latter is coupled with various leading departments to include: Health and Safety, Hiv/Aids, the Medical Advisory Board, Covid-19 containment as well as the Biological and Agricultural Sciences Department.
Her strong interest is in medical entomology and parasitology. Dr Busula has been involved in many aspects of the malaria disease; from basic research on the malaria vector, the parasite they transmit, to the control of the vectors.
This is evidenced by her Publications in peer-reviewed Journals and the Conferences she has attended to present her outstanding work. Dr Busula has Won Awards from The International Centre of Insect Physiology and Ecology (ICIPE), Kenya, and the evaluation committee of The British Society for Parasitology, London, UK, for the Best-Published Science Paper and the Best Oral Talk respectively.
She is a highly motivated, dynamic, ambitious, creative, hardworking, trustworthy, reliable, results-driven with laboratory and field-work experience in medical entomology and parasitology, analytical individual, with good writing skills and the ability to prioritize multiple assignments.
Dr Busula also has very good experience in Lecturing Biological and Agricultural Sciences in Kenyan Universities of Science and Technology. She works independently and as a team player in Research and Academic Institutions notably, the Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI), Kenya, the International Centre of Insects, Physiology and Ecology (icipe), Kenya and Wageningen University and Research, the Netherlands.
She has the ability to excel in a highly competitive environment, with good Supervision skills and practical understanding of medical research, and readiness and willingness to work anywhere for long hours. Dr Busula possesses good interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to develop and maintain mutually beneficial internal and external relationships.
Currently, she is a Member of the Research and Academic Boards of Kaimosi Friends University College in Kenya. She has successfully Managed malaria projects in KEMRI and ICIPE, Kenya. The projects included studies associated with the human infectious reservoir through studies that assessed malaria infectiousness using artificial membrane feeding assays, mosquito behaviour - associated projects, as well as those that countered laboratory-reared and wild malaria mosquitoes with the Entomopathogenic fungi.
Dr Busula has the zeal to contribute her quota in the eradication of diseases that inflict people in Africa.
