Christiaan Beyers Brink (Tiaan) is a Full Professor of Pharmacology at the North-West University, South Africa. He holds a degree in Pharmacy (BPharm, cum laude), MSc and PhD in Pharmacology, and undertook postdoctoral studies under Dr Richard R Neubig, at the University of Michigan, U.S.A.
He has been Registered as a Pharmacist at the South African Pharmacy Council since 1992. During his academic career, he has been involved in several Managerial capacities, Serving on university committees (including Chair of the NWU-AnimCareREC Animal Research Ethics Committee), laboratory management, educational programmes, national, continental and international learned societies and initiatives, editorial boards of national and international journals.
Prof Brink is an Established Researcher with a current SA NRF C2-rating and has received several prestigious and other awards. He is a Leader in pharmacology education, received the Burrows Teaching Award 2012 from McMaster University, Canada and had been the Secretary (2006-2010) and Chair (2010-2014) of the Education Section of the International Union of Basic and Clinical Pharmacology (IUPHAR).
Prof Brink has been appointed by the Minister of Health to Serve on the National Research Ethics Council (NHREC) and is the Past-President of the South African Society for Basic and Clinical Pharmacology.
