Dr Bockarie Alfred Swaray holds a PhD in Environmental Health Risk Management from University of Birmingham, United Kingdom. His research is funded by the Islamic Development Bank Group. He has a BSc in Environmental Science, MSc Renewable energy and the environment, and MSc in Geomatics Engineering. He is a team member of a chemical transport modelling and satellite observations group that focuses on developing inventories of prolific air pollution sources, deriving new air pollution datasets from a range of platforms (aircraft, satellites, ground-based network), and obtaining information for prudent policies based on sources and characteristics of local and regional air quality study. His PhD research focuses on assessing the air quality and climate forcing impact of the charcoal industry in Africa. Details include assessing trends and forecasting future charcoal production in Africa, emission inventory development of short-lived climate forcers from the charcoal supply chain, and the use of the GEOS-Chem chemical transport model to assess air quality and climate impact. He uses the following tools, ArcGIS, R, GEOS-Chem, and Linux. He can also work in an HPC environment. His interest areas are air quality and climate modeling; Public health, GIS and remote sensing applications; and energy access. He particularly interested in research on Africa.
