Brief Biography (English)

James Stephen Boatwright is an Associate Professor at the Department of Biodiversity and Conservation Biology at the University of the Western Cape, in South Africa.

His Research interests broadly include the taxonomy and systematics of African legumes (Fabaceae) as well as selected genera of the Aizoaceae, Apiaceae, Asphodelaceae, Asteraceae, Combretaceae, Hemerocallidaceae, Rubiaceae, Scrophulariaceae and Thymelaeaceae, the flora of the Karoo, and the taxonomy and identification of invasive plant species.

Prof Boatwright has been Active in Research since 2006 and is the Author or Co-Author of 67 Scientific Papers all in peer-reviewed, ISI accredited journals (63 Published and 4 Submitted) as well as 66 Oral Presentations at national and international Conferences.

He is actively involved in Student Supervision and is currently serving as Supervisor or Co-Supervisor for nine MSc and six PhD students. Prof Boatwright has graduated five MSc students and one PhD student to date.
