Brief Biography (English)

Dr Simmy Bezeng's global research interest is conservation biology with the primary objective of understanding drivers of biodiversity loss.

He focuses primarily on plants to understand key ecological questions related to species invasion, climate change, but also molecular ecology, phylogenetics and DNA Barcoding and Metabarcoding. Although his primary research has focused on plants, he also collaborates on projects studying animal ecology.

Using data on global standards for IUCN Red List of Threatened Species, ecosystems Red Listing and Key Biodiversity Areas, Dr Bezeng bridges the divide between data science and policy through supporting countries to report on both national and international biodiversity commitments.
