Maryam Bello-Akinosho is a Microbiologist with a passion to harness microbial lives in solving key human challenges. She is also passionate on imparting knowledge in the form of students' mentoring and supervision. She obtained her PhD in Microbiology from the University of Pretoria (UP) and MSc in Microbiology from the University of Ibadan (UI). Her research focuses on sustainable agriculture where bioremediation of polluted soil is critical as a measure of ensuring food chain purification from the source. She also conduct research to enhance understanding of the enormous contribution of mycorrhizal fungal symbionts of certain endemic medicinal plants in order to advise their ex-situ cultivation and conserve their mycorrhizal partners. She currently a Post doctoral researcher of the Agricultural Research Council (ARC).
