Brief Biography (English)

Dr Lebohang-Teboho Bell obtained his PhD, MSc (Experimental Physics) and BSc (Computational Physics) degrees from the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN).

His research interests include Solid-State Lasers, Beam shaping, Laser Additive Manufacturing, Fiber Optics Communication, Photonic Devices and Renewable Solar Energy. Dr Bell has Published several national and international articles. He has also presented his work at various National and International Conferences and has attended a couple of workshops in his field of interest.

Dr Bell is a Member of The Optical Society (OSA), The International Society for Optics and Photonics (SPIE), and the South African Institute of Physics. He has received several reputed awards; The Golden Key International, 2014; The CSIR Young Researcher Establishment grant in 2017; Best Doctoral Studentship Award from the CSIR-NLC, 2017; DST-NRF Professional Development Programme (PDP) Block Grant in 2014; NRF Innovation and Scarce Skills Masters Scholarships in 2012; International Officer Travel Grant from SPIE, Bellingham Washington, USA in 2016; International Travel Grant Optical Society of America (OSA) in 2015, and the NRF Free Standing Honours Scholarships in 2011.

Dr Bell is a Senior Researcher that is a Registered (SACNAPS) Natural Scientist, working as a Senior Researcher for the Manufacturing-Cluster (Photonic Centre) at the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), and the CEO/President of Dr Bell Academy.
