Brief Biography (English)

Dr Girish Bekaroo is a Senior Lecturer in computing at Middlesex University Mauritius. He has a PhD in Sustainable Computing and has over 12 years of Teaching and Research experience in different Higher Education Institutions in Mauritius. Dr Bekaroo was a Scholar at the University of Hull, United Kingdom, and a Fulbright Research Scholar at the University of California, Davis, United States.

Dr Bekaroo is currently the Campus Lead – Research and Knowledge Exchange at Middlesex University Mauritius and is responsible for actively promoting research culture and building research capacity at the university.

As a researcher, Dr Bekaroo has been the Principal Investigator, co-Investigator and Research Consultant of over 12 funded research projects related to the application of cutting-edge technologies to address topical research issues in Mauritius including carbon footprint estimation, flash flood nowcasting, hazard perception testing and training. He has over 50 research publications in proceedings of international conferences indexed in IEEE Xplore, ACM and Springer. Also, he has published in journals of impact including Renewable and Sustainable Energy Reviews, Journal of Cleaner Production and Robotics and Computer-Integrated Manufacturing. Dr Bekaroo is also a supervisor of doctoral students researching in Cloud-Robotic Systems, Sustainable Computing and Internet of Things.
