Dr Kolawole Banwo is a Food Microbiologist whose area of focus is bioactive components in foods, food safety, production of functional foods and product development.
His current research is the exploration of the food microbiome of traditional fermented foods to increase potentials in bioactive components and the production of functional foods. Dr Banwo also works on the effects of fermentation on the metabolites produced during mycotoxin decontamination in grains.
He is a Member of several learned bodies such as American Society for Microbiology (ASM), International Association for Food Protection (IAFP), Society for Applied Microbiology (SFAM), Institute of Food Technologists (IFT), Science Association of Nigeria (SAN), Nigerian Society for Microbiology (NSM).
