Dr Sylvia Angubua Baluka is a Lady Veterinarian aged 47 years, current President of the Uganda Veterinary Association and a Senior Lecturer in the College of Veterinary Medicine Makerere University. She is involved in conducting teaching, research, supervision of student research, and community outreach activities. Her research interests are in foodborne diseases, transboundary animal diseases, and the economic impact of these diseases. Her current research projects are focusing on the dairy value chain and are promoting prudent use of antibiotics so as to prevent misuse and address the emerging challenge global challenge of antimicrobial resistance. She is also serving as a member of the National Drug Authority Board, Chairing the Veterinary Medicines Committee.
