Brief Biography (English)

Dr Fatai Oladunni Balogun is a postdoctoral research fellow with the Department of Plant Sciences, University of the Free State, Qwaqwa, South Africa. His areas of research are centered on phytomedicine, phytochemistry, pharmacology, and toxicology of (South African) medicinal plants vis-a-vis their effects on degenerative diseases. He specializes in the synthesis of nanoparticles and bioactive compounds from medicinal plants geared at drug discovery and development. Notwithstanding being an author of many book chapters and dozens of peer-reviewed publications, he is an academic editor and reviewer to many journals and research institutes or foundations such as Journal of Ethnopharmacology, Journal of Food Biochemistry, National Research Foundation, Society for Medicinal Plants for Economic Development, etc. Additionally, he is a member of numerous professional associations including but limited to South African Council for Natural and Scientific Professions (SACNASP), Toxicology Society of South Africa, American Society for Microbiologist (ASM) etc. and had graduated (co-supervised) many postgraduate (honours, masters, and PhD) students.
