Brief Biography (English)
Yunus Ballim is Professor in the School of Civil & Environmental Engineering at the University of Witwatersrand. He was the Vice-Chancellor of Sol Plaatje University.
Prof Ballim became a Lecturer in Construction Materials (1992), then Associate Professor in Construction Materials (1999), and later Head of the School of Civil & Environmental Engineering.
His research is in Civil Engineering materials science with a focus on cement-based materials. Prof Ballim has been appointed as Chair of the Review Reference group for the 2020 review of the NRF and as Chair of the Ministerial Task Team to review the operation of NSFAS.
