Professor Yonas Bahta is an associate professor in the University of the Free State, Department of Agricultural Economics. In his position, Prof Bahta performs research and lecturing. Before joining the University of the Free State, he worked for Regional Strategic Analysis and Knowledge Support System (ReSAKSS), a regional strategy with International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI). He holds a BS in Agricultural Economics from Haramaya University of Agriculture, Ethiopia, an MSc in Agricultural Economics with distinction from the University of the Free State, and a PhD in Agricultural Economics from the University of the Free State. He is specialized in Development Economics. He is interested in trade, modelling (SAM- CGE, Econometrics), socio-economic analysis, saving mobilization, food security, monitoring and evaluation, marketing, price analysis, macro-economic, policy analysis, finance, and development-related issues.
