Prof Julius. R. Atlhopheng currently works at the Department of Environmental Science, University of Botswana. His research focuses on drylands science and management, climatic geomorphology and mineralogy, Management of drylands e.g. sustainability and inter-disciplinary approaches. other areas of his interests includes, Data Science and its applications - open data; open science; policy/infrastructure, and development applications; Transformation Agenda - Sustainable Development Goals (leader of University of Botswana SDGs Hub); Leader of National Task Force for the UNCCD National Action Programme (guiding desertification, land degradation & desertification); Application of science to transformation initiatives e.g. data strategies, 4IR applications and knowledge-based interventions, and Expert negotiator in Multilateral Environmental Agreements (MEAs).
