Brief Biography (English)

Dr Collins Otieno Asweto has PhD in Medical Science from Capital Medical University, Beijing, China. He did his MPH specialising in epidemiology and BSc in Biomedical Sciences at Maseno University, Kenya. Dr Asweto has collaborated actively with researchers in several other disciplines of health, particularly health system and epidemiology field. He has over 10 years experience in public health research and programme. He has been able to undertake the following:

  • Conducted research on effect of combined chemical exposure to cardiovascular system
  • Conducted health system research in western region of Kenya supported by Center for National Health Research.
  • Coordinated Highland malaria study in Karachuonyo District supported by CDC
  • Coordinated “Life straw project Kisumu.” The project was collaboration between Wageningen University, Netherland, ETH Zurich, Switzerland and Maseno University; this was a 4 years clinical trial (2011-2014).
  • Partnership coordinator for Community Health Strategy as part of health system strengthening in Kisumu East district (Now Kisumu East Subcounty)
