Dr Ogechukwu Benedicta Aribodor is a Public Health Parasitologist and a lecturer in the Department of Zoology, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Nigeria. She is presently a member of the scientific group Social Innovation in Health, Nigeria hub a World Health Organisation (WHO)/TDR research initiative (Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, Social Innovation in Health Initiative (SIHI) Nigeria at Nnamdi Azikiwe University (unizik.edu.ng). Her research focus is on the epidemiology and control of neglected tropical diseases with special interest in schistosomiasis and soil transmitted helminths, impact, sustainable and evidence-based research methods geared towards strengthening of the Public Health Systems especially in developing world.
Dr Aribodor is passionate about contributing meaningfully to scientific knowledge through research on the control of neglected tropical diseases. As an early career academic, she desires to be one of the leading parasitology researchers in Nigeria, with active collaboration with other scientists globally to tackle the menace of parasitic diseases in the world especially in Africa. She has over 10 publications in international scientific journals and is a member of a number of scientific organisations including Parasitology and Public Health Society of Nigeria (PPSN), Royal Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (RSTMH) and Malaria Eradication and Safe Health Initiative (MESHI) of Nigeria. It is on record that she came tops becoming the best graduating student of her set of 2004 in the Department. She has won some grants including the Joint World Health Organisation (WHO)-Regional Office for Africa (AFRO) /TDR/EDCTP Small Grants Scheme for implementation research on infectious diseases of poverty, Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TeTFund) and the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) PhD Research Grant.
