Prof George Odhiambo Amolo is based at the Department of Physics, at the Technical University of Kenya, Nairobi, and also works as a Lead and Research Associate of a Kenyan special interest group on Computational Modeling and Materials Science (CMMS) that was formed a few years back to focus on studies of the properties of materials for energy conversion, environmental and medical applications.
They have collaborators in Africa, Europe, Asia and America who are also avenues for postgraduate training through staff and student exchange. At national level, they are a team of more than 60 Academic Members and over 100 Postgraduate Students mainly in the areas of chemistry, physics and other applied sciences.
They are happy to work with colleagues engaged with the experimental aspects of their area in order to evolve a rich scientific achievement and strongly support a multidisciplinary approach to the potential of studying complex physical, chemical and biological systems, among others. The CMMS long term vision is to start and maintain a process that will culminate in a strongly industry-academia culture leading to Technological and Socio-Economic development in Kenya.
