Brief Biography (English)

With over nine years of extensive and progressive professional tenure in global health and development, Dr Anderson Amaechi consistently advanced his expertise in designing, executing, and assessing a spectrum of public health endeavors across diverse geographical landscapes and thematic areas. Further, He has dedicated a substantial part of my career to the field of infectious diseases, immunisation policy and research and been at the coal face of COVAX work through Gavi and core partners, where he witnessed firsthand both the triumphs and challenges in innovation, access to medicines (vaccines) or diagnostics in healthcare delivery.

Dr Amaechi holds a bachelor’s in medicine and dental surgery from the University of Benin, Nigeria, and graduated within the top 90 percentile, maintaining an impeccable record without a single course failure throughout my university journey. Additionally, he earned a Master of Science in Global Health from the University of Geneva, in collaboration with the Graduate Institute for International Affairs and Development, achieving an impressive average grade of 5.30/6. This educational background reflects his unwavering commitment to academic excellence and the pursuit of knowledge in the field of global health.

Working with a variety of global health institutions that mobilises and invests more than a combined US$7 billion a year to support programs run by local experts in more than 100 countries in immunisations, diagnostics, health systems, HIV,  have deepened my expertise to the intricacies and complexities of global public health, strategy design, operationalisation and implementation, and the critical importance of efficient health systems.

Dr Amaechi is a highly experienced evaluation and research professional with interests in contributing meaningfully to set up of evaluation and learning systems which promotes evidence-driven adaptive management of programs globally, especially, in resource constrained settings. His knowledge and skills in conducting, managing and commissioning complex multimillion dollar national, regional and thematic evaluations combined with my experience with collaborative epidemiologic research (evidenced by academic publications.)

His ability to ascertain particular areas of need, create sustainable solutions, and enhance organisational effectiveness is demonstrated in his current work as Evaluation and research manager for strategic and programmatic evaluations and learning. In this role, together with technical specialists and stakeholders, he facilitated the development of guidelines and review checklists aimed at streamlining implementation of assessments (base, mid and endlines). He then encouraged uptake in all country portfolios via active and meaningful engagement. This initiative increased the speed and quality of assessment design and implementation. Through spearheading mixed methodological research and evaluations (quantitative and qualitative), He has honed his skills in coordinating transdisciplinary teams to deliver high quality studies and evaluations from conception to completion in key policies, intervention areas, programmes as well as investments.

Furthermore, Dr Amaechi is published in high impact journals such as the Lancet and recently got a paper accepted by the United State council of foreign relation paper.
