Brief Biography (English)

ODr. Akinpelu Bolajoko is an associate professor in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile- Ife. She joined the service of the Department in 1999 and obtained PhD in Biochemistry (with a specialty in natural product biochemistry) at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria in 2011. Her research work is focused in the area of natural product biochemistry geared towards the evaluation of the biochemical effect of active plant extract/chemicals on certain serum/plasma parameters especially enzymes with the view of ascertaining their possible mechanism. Dr. Akinpelu is a recipient of Carnegie Sponsored Fellowship Award to University (May- Aug. 2008) and currently the principal investigator of Tetfund and NRF (2018) award on a research project titled: “Risk Assessment Of Some Commonly Used Pesticides On The West African Honeybee Apis Mellifera Adansonii L. In Nigeria". She has published over 30 papers in reputed journals and has participated in reputable scientific conferences. She has also served as a reviewer for reputable scientific journals. Member of many professional bodies which include Nigeria Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, West African Network of Natural Products Research Scientists, West African Society of Pharmacology and Organization for Women in Science in Developing World (OWSD).
