Dr Patrick Aja obtained a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Biochemistry and Masters of Science (MSc) degree in Medical Biochemistry from Ebonyi State University, Nigeria in 2004 and 2008 respectively. He also obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Nutritional Biochemistry from the same University in 2013. He is currently a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Biochemistry, Ebonyi State University. His major research interest/area includes Nutraceuticals/Plant Therapeutics/Herbal Medicine in Nigeria and Ethno-medicine of neglected and underutilized medicinal plants with special focus on essential oil and traditional leafy vegetables and evaluation of natural products with anti-cancer and anti-diabetic activities in medicinal and aromatic plants. He is a member of many societies including the Nigerian Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (NSBMB) and Society for Experimental Biology of Nigeria(NISEB). Dr Aja won the following grants: (I) Award of Ebonyi State University (EBSU)- TETFUND Research Grant on Toxicological Studies, Chemical Profiling, and Therapeutic Potentials of Selected Local Herbs Used Against Arthritis in Ebonyi State, Nigeria- 2015 in which he was the Assistant Principal Investigator; (II) Award of Ebonyi State University (EBSU)-TETFUND Research Grant on Evaluations of Aqueous and Ethanol Extracts of the Leaves and Seeds of Moringa oleifera in Albino Rats-2012 in which he was the Principal Investigator; and (III) Award of Ebonyi State University (EBSU)-TETFUND Research Grant on Phytochemical Characterization and Comparative Studies of Mosquito repellent activity of essential oils from Plants extracts-2012 in which he was the Co-principal investigator. He has published over eighty (80) articles both in local and international ranked journals. He is in Google scholar with 649 Google citations from many research journal articles. He has participated in many training which includes the Mammalian Cell Culture Techniques Course, 2011, Grants-manship Training Workshop, 2013; Structured Training for African Researchers (STARs) Organised by Association of Commonwealth Universities, 2014; and Jaris Molecular docking training. To his credit, he has received many Awards and Honours which include Federal Government Scholarship Award at Ebonyi State University, Nigeria, in 2002.
