Dr Afaf Ghais Ahmed obtained the PhD degree in Chemical Engineering, University of Khartoum, Sudan, in March 2008. MSc in computational mathematic, and BSc in Chemical Engineering from University of Khartoum, Sudan, in March 2003 and November 1996, respectively. She is currently an Associate Professor in University of Khartoum. She was the head of the Chemical Engineering Department (2013-2015). Since 2015, she was working in University of Technology and Applied Science (UTAS), Sultanate of Oman. Now she is the Accreditation Board for Engineering & Technology (ABET) coordinator of the Chemical Engineering Unit- University of Technology and Applied Science (UTAS).
Dr Ahmed's main research interests are in fly ash utilisation in adsorption processes, road stabilisation and construction. In addition to Biofuel application. She has published widely in local and international journals. She also acts as a reviewer to University of Technology and Applied Science (UTAS) academic advising system through Oman Academic Accreditation program.
