Brief Biography (English)

Dr Muinat Moronke Adeyanju joined the services of Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye, Nigeria, as a graduate assistant in 2001. She obtained her PhD in 2015 and was then appointed as Lecturer in the Department of Biochemistry.

She conducts innovative, multidisciplinary Research in the area of protein isolation, assay, purification, characterization, kinetics, post-translational modifications, and the use of cell culture in the secretion of novel enzymes using fermentation technology.

Dr Adeyanju's other Experience and Skills include, but are not limited to, molecular biology, glycomics, and proteomics techniques utilizing proteomics to characterize secreted and bound proteins from local strains of microorganisms. She also screens local strains of microorganisms, animals and plants species capable of alleviating metabolic syndromes like diabetes, hypertension, hyperlipidemia and neurodegenerative diseases (Alzheimer’s), which includes studying the enzymes/inhibitors secreted and activities, kinetics, inhibition concentration (IC50) percentage inhibition, inhibition patterns, phytochemical screening and antioxidant status (as the case demands) in the management of these metabolic diseases.

Dr Adeyanju collaborates with researchers both nationally and internationally and her Research interests include Protein, Food Biochemistry, Biotechnology, and Neuroscience. Her efforts are directed to the development of protein cell-factories and their possible use industrially while targeting them as a means of providing alternative means in managing these leading causes of deaths globally.
