Professor Adejuwon Adewale Adeneye [MBBS, MSc, PhD, DSc(AM)] had his medical undergraduate training at the University of Ilorin (1991-1998) which was followed up with an MSc training in Pharmacology at Usman Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, where he was the best student in his set in January 2005 and received Federal Government of Nigeria Postgraduate Scholarship Award. In June 2005, he joined the services of Lagos State University College of Medicine as Lecturer Grade II following which he undertook a PhD (Pharmacology) program at the University of Lagos (2007-2010) with his thesis in the field of Diabetology, Obesity, and Toxicology. Prof Adeneye has over 100 publications in reputable scientific journals (8 of which emanated from his PhD thesis), 2 chapter contributions, and 2 published books. Three of his published articles were rated among the SciVerse ScienceDirect Top 25 Hottest Articles between 2006 and 2007. Adejuwon was a Distinguished Visiting Fulbright Research Scholar to the College of Pharmacy, University of Kentucky, U.S.A. (August 2010 - May 2011). During the Fulbright year, his research work culminated in the discovery of a new anti-hyperglycemic drug, erinidine, from an indigenous Nigerian medicinal plant, Hunteria umbellata. He also has to his credit several travel awards and an active member of several local and international learned societies. In 2013, Adejuwon was a recipient of the African Union-The World Academy of Science (AU-TWAS) Best Young Researcher Award (Basic Science category) and TWAS Young Affiliate Award (2014-2018 Track Tenure). He is currently a Professor in the Department of Pharmacology, Therapeutics & Toxicology, Lagos State University College of Medicine, Ikeja, Lagos, Nigeria and a Visiting Research Scholar to the College of Pharmacy, the University of Kentucky, and University of Arkansas Medical School, Arkansas, both in the U.S.
