Dr Habtu Shumoy Abraha, (PhD), specialises in food science and nutrition, with a focus on plant-based foods. He is interested in studying traditional African foods with the goal of revolutionising African traditional foods through processing and increasing consumer convenience.
He is currently employed by Puratos Group NV, a Belgian global food company that is the world's leading producer and provider of innovative products, raw materials, and application expertise to the bakery, patisserie, and chocolate industries. Dr Abraha is primarily responsible within Puratos for pursuing collaboration with African universities in order to conduct in-depth research on traditional African foods.
Dr Abraha has numerous scientific publications to his credit. He has worked in academia, teaching and conducting research at Ghent University and Mekelle Universities.
