Sunil Maharaj is Director of the Astrophysics and Cosmology Research Unit; Senior Professor of in the School of Mathematics and he holds the South African Research Chair in Gravitating Systems at the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN). He is a fellow of the Royal Society of South Africa (RSSAf) and member of the Academy of Science of South Africa (ASSAf). His research Interests include relativistic kinetic theory; Symmetries of the gravitational field, in particular conformal symmetries; Exact solutions of the field equations, especially inhomogeneous cosmological models and Highly compact stellar objects and radiating stars. He has published many papers in international journals, supervised several MSc and PhD students, and made several conference presentations.
