It is almost time for QUEST to start working on the next edition of QUEST Magazine, the official quarterly popular science publication of the Academy of Science of South Africa (ASSAf), which will be published in the middle of December 2024.

As such, QUEST is calling for article submissions to relevant South African Universities and research institutions (space permitting). Article(s) can be submitted to Quest-Editor@assaf.org.za.

This is a chance to popularise the latest research from your organisation by submitting a popular article (700 to 1 000 words plus one or two relevant images) by your scientist/s or researcher/s, with a deadline of Monday 11 November 2024. Articles in Quest are aimed at Grade 10-12 learners and students – both print and online (https://questonline.org.za/). The articles are text-light and photos/infographics/visuals are preferred. ORCID of researchers can be included.

The next edition is dedicated to the theme “Med + Tech”, touching on topics such as:

  • The medical industry is often where technology is most cutting edge. What are the latest breakthroughs in health tech, vaccines, therapies, interventions?
  • What is the emerging role of AI in the medical field?
  • Anti-aging technology is gaining a lot of ground (funded by billionaires)
  • Africa’s health challenges (and tech solutions) etc.

Please note that submissions do not necessarily have to be tied to the theme and can be on any new South African science (for our features section).

For inquiries, please contact Mr Magick M. Maphanga: magick@ASSAf.org.za

QUEST look forward to hearing from you and discussing potential article topics.
