It is almost time for QUEST to start working on the next edition of QUEST Magazine, the official quarterly publication of the Academy of Science of South Africa (ASSAf), which will be published at the end of September 2024.

As such, we are calling for article submissions to relevant South African Universities and research institutions (space permitting). Article(s) can be submitted to Quest-Editor@assaf.org.za.

This is a chance to popularise the latest research from your organisation by submitting a popular article (700 to 1 000 words plus one or two relevant images) by your scientist/s or researcher/s, with a deadline of Monday 19 August 2024. Articles in Quest are aimed at Grade 10-12 learners and students – both print and online (https://questonline.org.za/). The articles are text-light and photos/infographics/visuals are preferred. ORCID of researchers can be included.

The next edition is dedicated to the theme “Climate changers”, touching on topics such as:

  • Focusing not (only) on the problem of climate change, but on the latest innovative solutions: advanced, cheaper and efficient solar, wind, biogas, de-carbonisation, advanced modelling and warning systems. Out-of-the-box ideas etc.
  • But also, current evidence of global warming (extreme weather events etc.).
  • SA research latest NB.

Please note that submissions do not necessarily have to be tied to the theme and can be on any new South African science (for our features section).

We look forward to hearing from you and discussing potential article topics.

Kindly share the call with colleagues in your field in other institutions.
